Western Washington Rabbit.

Hey! Anyone know where I can hunt some Rabbit in Western Wa? I would prefer public land (don't wanna bother with asking permission). Any info would be helpful.

Hey! Welcome to the site. I love rabbit hunting, but I have to admit that I don't have a single good western washington public land spot. And if I did, I wouldn't share it on the internet!

A lead for you though:
A few years ago I saw a ton of rabbit tracks in and around the thick brush in the first mile or so of the trail going to the Greenwater Lakes (up FS70, near Enumclaw). I was there in December with fresh snow on the ground. I always wanted to go back and poke around the brush with my shotgun, but I never got around to it. I've since moved to Oregon and doubt that I'll get up there. Strap on some snowshoes and check it out for me, please.

But if you actually want to be successful, get permission on private land. The best rabbit hunting on the westside is in pasture on small farms. Get permission, show up before dawn, and walk the edge of the blackberry hedges. They'll be two hops from the thickets where you can spot them and shoot them in the head with a 22.

Wish i knew a good spot. I kick up snowshoe hares once in a blue moon while grouse hunting. This year my hunting buddy and I actually got a double on snowshoes while grouse hunting. You'd think we won the lottery lol. Like previously stated most the "good" rabbit hunting is found on private land.

that's crazy... Up in AK we see hundreds a day on good rabbit years.

It seems like I see about 10 snowshoes a year, and never in the same spot twice. The population is just so sparse in the areas that I hunt that it's hardly worth going out. Cottontails though, I have several spots that on public and on private that I can go and be pretty certain I'll see 5-10 and kill at least a couple.

Without giving me your specific places, I live in Lynden, anyplace or rather what kind of terrain should i look for?  Mountains on log roads?  Near Creeks?

Drop me a line if you ever want to see a hawk chase down a rabbit. I'm always looking for rabbits for my hawk and beagle. Lots of people have bunnies in their yards, or alongside a freeway. Neither are good areas for hunting with a bird. I need some breathing room for them!
