Due process? We don't need no stinking due process! :bash:

It sure seems to me from reading the initiatives in the voter pamphlet ( I voted no across the board)....that most, if not all dealt with more than one issue.....isn't that what was used against all the initiatives that were thrown out over the years after we the people passed them. Could these all be taken to court and overturned on the grounds that the deal with more than one thing?  Hmmm......

It depends on your state's Constitution. In some states, such as Arizona where I live now, the legislature CANNOT go back and try to override the initiative process by voting to overturn what the people pass. I'm guessing a court could throw out parts or all but that sounds like a much higher bar.

This and what is likely to come in the future is why when I move back in 6 weeks I am stopping at the border and living in Idaho.

Generally in excess of 75% on the presidential cycle, less on the congressional cycle, although this year was only about 70%.

These numbers are typical nationally

I feel like their was little to no public support from the anti-I1491 lobby.  I don't remember seeing a single No on I1491 ad and saw several a night from the yes on I1491 lobby.  This is not surprising, but anymore the majority of people believe everything they see on TV and don't do any critical thinking of there own.  My wife thought this was a great initiative and didn't see anything wrong with it, until I explained the negatives.  All she knew was what she saw from the pro lobby. Not that I think a bunch of anti-I1491 commercials would have made a difference, but it just shows how badly the left has won.  There is no opposition to the crazy liberals in this state any more.

Sometimes I wish when I moved last year, I would have done what Machias is doing and gone with Idaho instead of this.  If they didn't have a state income tax it would have been a no brainer.

1491 Will likely be overturned. Even the ACLU opposed it. It sounds reasonable but totally violates due process as defined by the constitution. The writers even said it was flawed but that the state legislature would be able to "fix" it. However, they forget that that can't happen for two years under Washington law.

Very lazy voters in this state!! :bash:  Numbers don't lie!!

The numbers say that 79% of the voters have returned their ballots, less than the ~83% of the last two presidential cycle elections but certainly far from any "very lazy" metric, unless one misunderstands the very numbers they are reading.

I would love for you to start a thread about  where you chose to land and why, making the comparisons  between where you used to live in wa/were looking to return to and where you land in ID.

I forsee the need to relocate at some point.  I really like the panhandle area and thier general contempt of federal authority. (In many cases it's all authority  not just federal). The one thing that hangs me up is the income tax and a sales tax.   The difference won't matter much if this state manages to get an income tax, but until then...

I heard on the radio last night that 80-90 million eligible American voters didn't vote this year, as usual. They are the real deplorables.  :twocents:
