Yak birds

Found a honey hole 3 weeks ago while quail hunting. Went over for the annual weekend with the wife and daughter. They shop, I shoot. Brought a half dozen dekes and figured I would hit the ducks before the quail wake up. What I discovered was a overnight resting spot for more than a few birds, and what seemed to be the origin of all things wood duck. I decided to let a few hundred of them to move on. Hitting them at 15yds with the 20ga and quail loads. Some easy shooting

nice job on the woodies...beautiful birds..probably headed over on thanksgiving weekend---any pointers/areas you would like to share ?

Always seem to be plenty of woodies along the main river. Not sure where all these birds went to. The wigeon and mallards stayed close on private water. I watched them fly less than a mile. Any of the walk in areas between Union Gap and Satus will have birds. If you are on the rez, really imagine where the masses would hit the open areas, and find a different corner or access. The quail shooting is great and a few roosters around still.
