WI Archery deer hunt
« on: November 15, 2016, 05:59:26 PM »
Went to west central WI for an 8 day hunt Nov 4th-12th. Insanely warm weather with a couple of days in the upper 60's and one day hitting 70 degrees. Regardless we saw a ton of deer, hung out with amazing people and had a great time. The area we hunt is adjacent to ag land and is thickly timbered with marsh and swamp. In your face type bowhunting shooting through small lanes.

We saw some really nice bucks. I ended up getting this guy the last day of the hunt.

Congrats, I was there during the same time period. It was really warm during the days, a bit chilly Friday morning though at 24 degrees just south of Lake Wisconsin. I'm posting my pics here shortly.

Thanks! Kind of crazy tag system they had this year. I ended up with i think 1 buck tag and 3 doe tags all for the non-res Archery fee of around $150. No back tags this year was weird too! No check stations (call in this year).

We have one 80 and two 40's to hunt in the central farmland zone. Lots of deer on adjoining ag land/big timber blocks and we get our fair share too especially if the Oaks have a banner acorn drop like they did this year. The neighbors hunt pretty hard and most of the bucks don't make it past 2.5 YO. When they do you can tell right away, they blow up.

That basket 6 I shot was a 1.5 YO, 165# field dressed.
