Gnarly old buck....oh yeah, and my wife's buck too.

Been after an old buck for the past 2 years and finally caught up with him this year.  An old buck, starting to show regress, and what I think is some crazy cool knurling. 

We were heading back in yesterday after a noon hunt on late season to take care of farm stuff, not paying too much attention and we jumped a buck.  I saw him jump into the thick nastiness to our right off the old overgrown loggin road (now a 6' wide trail) about 70 yards.  We both froze and just for fun I took out the doe can gave it 2 turns and we started creeping, 10 yards later, another buck popped out from the left onto the road/path, looked to be decent wide beams, little thin, but nice buck, shot was taken, took off down the path away from us.  Did a little silent high five-ing, waited about 30 seconds, turned the can a few times to check to see if we could hear a bit of wheezing or a grunt and the first buck that jumped to the right pops out....my old game camera nemesis that I have been looking for...God answers prayers!  Was about 55 yards out, took the shot, he bolted down the same path as the first one.  Kneeling there, a bit, smiling, some more silent high five-ing, then, gave a few turns of the can to see if we could hear anything and in the thick nastiness to our left we could hear movement, snorting and a few wheezes, more snort/grunts, then more movement, then silence.  Hoping one didn't do a u-turn on us and go through the the nastiness, we spent another 5 minutes (seemed like 30) before we crept up to where we shot them.  Awesome blood, and the trail was good.  30 feet, later down the trail was the old buck, and another 20 feet down the trail was the younger one, then realized that the snorting and grunting we had heard earlier was another buck in the area....very cool afternoon!  No tag soup, no nasty underbrush to deal with, made for a late night, but all is good during the late hunt!  Thanks for reading our adventure!  (added pics of that old buck on game camera for past 2 years)

JimmieD, that is an old soul for sure what was his teeth like? My dad took an old timer back in "67" that was a monster. The fish and game fellas said it was the biggest buck they had seen at the time, figured him at over 400lbs on the hoof(mule deer), the darn thing only had one tooth left and they figured he never would have made it through the winter. Congrats to you and your wife on a couple dandy bucks!....they said my dads buck was 12 1/2 to 13 1/2 years old.
