7-30 Waters in Contender carbine
« on: July 02, 2016, 10:04:23 PM »
I was bidding on a 410 and a 7-30 Waters barrel and some so and so out bid me on the 410, but I got the 7-30 Waters barel.  My 7 year old daughter is now just a 410 barrel to be all set, but I need help w/loading data for the 7-30 in a Contender carbine.

I have 30-30 brass, bullets and dies ready to go.  Walk me through it.  I also have Nos 120 BTs.

Personally, I would start with new 7-30 Waters brass, especially if you have another 30-30 in the house.  I always liked nickel plated brass holding a ballistic tip in 7-30 Waters.  As far as powder goes, I would try H335 or Varget, try to load as long as I can and see how far I can take it before I see signs or a drop in accuracy.

Run win 748.  If you run 30-30 brass like i do, you should fire form it.   I've had no problems with mine and only run 30-30 brass.
