Meat locker in GMU 673
« on: August 30, 2016, 01:07:11 AM »
I've got a cow tag this year for 673!  Season doesn't open for a while yet (modern firearm) but I'm figuring we'll want to get my cow to a locker at some point so we don't have to pause the bull hunting for as long.  Hadn't been an issue before as once we got bull elk down that was it, we were heading for home anyway.  I recall from past years seeing a flyer for a locker in I think Nemah (might have been Naselle).   Is that an honest outfit that runs that locker?  Either way is there locker you guys would recommend?

There is one in Naselle, I have not gotten to use it since the new owners  :(
But I have heard they are still operating.
It is right behind Okies in the liquor store

I also have seen the flyers from the guys near Nemah, but no reports from anyone that has used them.  :dunno:

Have you got a name for the business in Naselle, or better yet a phone number/website?

Thanks for the input!  If I get to use either one I'll post up a review.

If you're hunting the north side of that GMU, the closest place I know of is in Frances. Haven't used them, just drive by on my way to Raymond.

According to his website he doesn't do cold storage, and I'm just looking for a locker to hang the meat for a few days until we finish tagging out and go home.  We'll either cut/wrap ourselves or use a butcher that's much more local to where we live.

I wouldn't take anything to patriotic packing, don't think they are even open any more. Noun the cleanest when they were open

I used a game locker that is in Nemah, pretty close to the fish hatchery.  Very reasonable price at $15/day, and the gal that we dealt with (Andi Shotwell) was fantastic.  Her and her husband are oyster farmers and run elkhornoyster.com, and they clear out and rent cooler space to hunters in the area starting with archery season.  They look to have space for about 3 elk at a time without needing to get creative.  Probably space for 5 with creativity and still leaving airflow room between all the hanging parts.

They said they sell a dozen oysters for $5.  Didn't get any this year as we were heading for home when found out about that deal, but we're already planning on an oyster dinner one night next year.
