Just Paypal'd the money to Antlershed.  Going to have his Monarch 5's in a few days.

Great choice. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

You will be fine with them.  Nikon is good stuff once you get away from the low cost loss leaders.

Got the binos today.  It was pretty dusky when I got home, so I figured I'd see how they did in that low light condition.  I was blown away at how much I could see given the lack of light.  Much better than older Monarch's were.

Antlershed was great to deal with, and I got what I wanted a what I consider a really good price.

Cabelas has Vortex Diamondback 8 X 42's for $129.99.

I think this is a steal optics of that quality.

I've also done business with Elknut on here and he is really good.    He has very reasonable prices, and he will take the time to talk to you about what you want and guide you toward something good (he didn't guide me to more expensive stuff, because what I was after didn't demand it.......    seems like a most trustworthy man.)
Dad bought a set of the 10x42 diamondbacks for that price this weekend. I like them a lot, I own a set of 10x42 monarchs and a set of 10x42 Leupolds. I like the diamonbacks just fine

We keep an 8x42 in the truck.  Use a bit more care with them in the field, the chassis is not as robust as more expensive binoculars.  Optically they are pretty good.

I saw a pair of Vortex Talon HD 10x42 on Camofire the other day for 289.00$. I have these and they are great!

Whoops, just saw you got a set. Well, for anyone else looking....
