If you were buying a. 205 what would you buy? Looked at  a savage 11 package at sportsmans that I might get. Is there a better deal out there?

Have you looked at the CZ 527 's in 204?  CZ makes the 527 in two different models the "American"  which has the skinny barrel and the "Varmint" has a larger profile barrel.  I have 527 Varmint in 17 Hornet and for a factory made, store bought gun, it is a sweet little rifle.  I like it so much I'll be adding a CZ 527 Varmint in 204 in the near future.

They're fairly compact and not all that heavy considering they have a real wood stock, not some plastic POS like many new guns have.  My CZ 527 Varmint in 17 Hornet weighs 8lbs 3oz including scope and rings.

Another vote for the CZ 527! There awesome little guns.

I think you'd be happy with the Savage as well. I carried a model 12 around for a few years as my general critter killer. Mine shot easy .5" groups.

I've heard good things about the CZ.  I have a Remington VTR in .204 that is lights out!

CZ 527

The American has a 21.9 inch barrel and the varmint, ~ 1/2 pond heavier, has a 24 inch barrel.  Barrel length means a lot with getting most of what is advertised from this cartridge.

I currently have 527s in 17 & 22 Hornet and 223 & 204.  All of them are Americans, but I had a 223 Kevlar Varmint that I gave to a cousin.  They are great rifles.

They sure make for a fun little package when they're a little shorter though and in the tiny case like the 17 Hornet I doubt I've lost much velocity, if any.  My 17 WSM has only a slightly smaller case than the 17 Hornady Hornet and when I went from 22 down to 20 in my 17 WSM it didn't lose any.  In the 204 or 223 I can see those losing a little but I talk to guys that are still getting 3700+ with 35gr Bergers out of their 20-22in. 204's.

Like predatorpro said you will nor be disappointed with a CZ. I have CZ's in 9.3X62, 6.5X55, .223 and a 22 trainer all shoot great. The .204 and a 243 or 270 will be the next one's in my collection.
