Hunted for years on state forest ground in Utah.  Area had thousands of acres of old growth quaken aspen groves that provided year around habitat for good herds of both deer and elk and also was a major migratory area for the animals higher up.  Family took a lot of both deer and elk from the area.  State then decided (despite objections from game managers) to log the quakies in the area. Within two years they had completely clear cut every quakie in the area, and I mean completely clear cut. Areas that once were pristine groves of old growth and home to great numbers of big game are now huge gouges of clear cut open space with a few stumps and completely void of anything other than squirrels.  When asked about it,  we were told the mandate was to maximize profit from state lands and these quakies were more profitable to the state when cut and ground up to be used to make furnace filters.  Provided several local jobs for the two years it took to denude the area. This is not an isolated incident in the state, short term profits over ride long term game management everytime.  It's not just selling off the land that is a problem.

Some States have a great track record at managing wildlife.

Fixed it for you. ;)

Them sneaky Republicans.

I guess this should go under Trumps Accomplishments since it will be signed by him.
No, it won't be; there's nothing to sign. It was a change in House rules (effective now) that allows land transfers to occur without consideration of cost.

Oh well - nice try. It's tough when facts get in the way of an agenda.

He will still own it as it occurred with his congress. I sure haven't heard anything (tweets) from him against it.

The POTUS doesn't 'own' Congress. That's why each of our three co-equal branches of government has its own article in our Constitution. Even the lesser referenced SCOTUS probably has more power than it should after Marbury v. Madison. They make up the first three articles and there's only a couple more after that. Its a really liberating document to read some time  :twocents:

There are four more articles. The Fourth lays out how the states deal with each other and with the federal government. The Fifth lays out the process for amending the Constitution. The Sixth, perhaps the most important of all the articles, establishes the Constitution as the law of the land, and the Seventh Article outlines the ratification process and how it was to be enacted.
"Restricting the rights of law-abiding citizens based on the actions of criminals and madmen will have no positive effect on the future acts of criminals and madmen. It will only serve to reduce individual rights and the very security of our republic." - Pianoman https://linktr.ee/johnlwallace https://valoaneducator.tv/johnwallace-2014743

Well what passed the House is already done, it's a change in rules and not like a law change like most bills would be.

We (outdoorsman, environmentalists, and public lands enthusiasts combined) need to be vocal together that any fed lands sale/transfer to the extent that some are proposing is not acceptable.
