What's your favorite Mule Deer hunting book?
« on: December 07, 2016, 04:47:01 PM »
What's your favorite Mule Deer hunting book and why? I have Dwight Schuhs book, which is a great book, but I'm looking to expand my library and do some more reading on hunting muleys and books about the backcountry in general this winter.

Hunting the Rockies Home of the Giants by Kirk Darner.  Why?  Because the guy was totally full of "it" and a whole generation of people ate it up.

Robby Denning is the author and he runs or owns (or both) the Rokslide forum. He does Vlogs of his hunts sometimes. Pretty cool guy.

** :yeah: Just finished it before my Montana Rut hunt, actually finished it on the flight over. Lots of great info, and he's a blue collar guy that works and budgets his hunts with a family.

I've also heard from a buddy that "Idahos Greatest Mule Deer" by Ryan Hatfield is also a less informative but entertaining read.

Be interested to see what other books people recommend as well.

I've been wanting to read "Hunting High Country Mule Deer" by Mike Eastman. I know his dad was a great hunter.

I have read and like Both Dwight Schuh's book and David Long's.  I am re-reading David Long's book right now because I am thinking about hunting Idaho (for the first time) next season.  Last time I read it I was planning a hunt in Montana and wasn't really planning on hunting very high.  Most of that book is geared towards sub-alpine mountain hunting, that's why I am re-reading it.
