Interesting.

Does this require a specialized buffer system?

How about the upper unit?  Is there a specialized upper that has the gas tube hole plugged somehow?

The lower and bolt are caliber specific. The bolt is actually one piece.

The upper can be regular AR15 and typically the gas tube hole is left as is.

The buffer systems vary, but you can use a conventional system with a 9mm buffer.

not for the ar pistol.  If you configure as a rifle it's a short barreled rifle and you would.

Cool.  So you get a lower that can handle the 9mm mags(I have seen some that take glock mags), and then you put a standard upper in with a traditional buffer set up and a 9mm BCG, and put the barrel on and it should cycle without the gas system?  That's pretty slick

I've seen a 9mm carbine that had similar look and feel to an AR on a real popular you tube channel hickock45. The cost was $500 ish and seemed pretty decent straight blow back design and offered in a bunch of Glock calibers as it used those mags.  Pretty sure 9mm was designed for sub machinegun/carbine use...
Pretty sure they were being used in 3 gun competitions too.
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

Mech tech carbine upper for your glock.

Also Just Right Carbine for an off the shelf complete gun in 16" barrel and they are in the $5-600range, come with 1 or 2 mags.  They are great running guns, but no BHO on empty mag.

I recently bought a CZ Scorpion and sold my 9mm AR, just like the scorpion better.
