looking to get lab
« on: December 12, 2016, 04:01:26 PM »
Hello and thank you for your time.
I am going to get a lab this spring, and would like some help finding a good breeder.
I have looked at a lot of kennel websites and even sent off some emails. From reading on here I have contacted Ireland farms, and a few others. the problem I have is that I live in the  Southwest and most of the breeders are up north or east of me.
I have contacted a breeder in Onalaska (Wind river labs) any info on this breeder would be appreciated. Any info on a breeder in my part of the state would also be appreciated.
Again thank you for your time.

I highly recommend kingsland Labradors, but they are in Puyallup.  They only breed chocolate color.
“In common with”..... not so much!!

What are you looking for in a dog?  family dog+
Field Trial?
Hunt Test?
Top Notch hunting dog, handle well, runs decent blinds?
"Meat dog"?
More upland than waterfowl?

After health clearances, no point paying more for a breeding than necessary.

I don't have any experience with Wind River, but folks I know who have all think very highly of Lee.

thanks for the reply's.
I am looking for a gun dog or hunting partner, one that is ready to go every time I am.It will be a big part of the family .
I want a black male, non English but not a small dog ether. I just hunt waterfowl.
I have had a few labs in my life and need to get another.

Yes Lee at wind river labs, and Rocking M retrievers are good choices. Also Butch Higgins Retrievers in Cathlamet is a fantastic breeder and trainer.

I have to chime in with a recommendation for Warren at Ireland Farms...my little chocolate girl from there has exceeded my expectations on every level

Look at my post from earlier today. She is off of Craigslist. And hasn't lost a bird in 2 years. She is almost 3 years old. Great dog, better sister and house alarm!!!
