Sylo Raingear
« on: December 14, 2016, 10:01:45 AM »
Anybody tried the Sylo raingear on camofire yet? 99 bucks is tempting if they are as breathable/waterproof as they claim. My rain pants never seem to last more than a couple years anyways, no matter how expensive..

My understanding is that Sylo, bought out or acquired Core4Element? I have a set of raingear from C4E, as well as a couple other pieces. The other pieces I'm really happy with. The raingear I thought I really liked, until I stress tested it blacktail hunting one day. I had one arm that got pretty wet. Could have had something to do with where my pack was riding on my shoulder? The pros: Brushed face is reasonably quiet but also absorbs moisture. Until that hunt I had been wearing as a shell layer backpack and day hunting mule deer. Seems to breathe reasonably, pit zips help. Packs down nice and fairly light.

That being said, a hunting partner who hunts blacktail much more than I do, really likes his Sylo. At first glance, the face fabric between his and mine seems to have a different weave, or appearance? Don't know if they have changed anything or not.
Albacore, the better white meat.
