So you went French vanilla with sprinkles? :chuckle:

Split the difference between the 6x47 and the 6.5 -06ai and go with a 6-284. You'll eat barrels up pretty quick, but it's a smoking fast 6mm.

I like how you think!

Ofcourse, how hard you run them and how fast you shoot them has a lot to do with barrel life but one of my favorites in the safe is my 6-284 and running it with a SAS Barricade screwed on the end has made it even more fun.

I thought about doing a 243ai but the 6-284 is sooooo easy and shoots faster so I went that route and I've been very happy I did.

If that's to generic for you I can hook you up with a 6-06AI barreled action built on a Stiller with a Broughton 5c throated for the 105 Hybrids, Jewel trigger.  Built by Keven Cram MCM Rifles in PA.  Has all the Redding Dies to make brass from Lapua 30-06 and already has a couple hundred pieces of new brass ready to go.  Less than 100 rounds fired through it.

I went to the Sportsmans Warehouse in Tucson today, trolling. They had to call 9-1-1 to check to see if I had a heart attack. They had Norma 6.5x284 brass, Hornady 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5 Grendel brass...They had powder or all sorts, Bullets of different brands. I'll go back after I count what I have.
:chuckle:  stuff has definitely gotten a lot easier to find here lately which is nice

It is. I've been ordering this stuff online, but not anymore...

I've got a couple hundred rounds of new unprimed Norma 6.5-284 brass if you're looking for some.

I'd have to look at the paperwork Kevin sent with it but he did a load work up with the 105 Bergers and I believe they were launching around 3300fps with no pressure.  Loaded up with something like the 95gr Hunting VLD's I'd guess it to be somewhere in the 3600fps range.

I've heard of guys running their 6-06AI's quite a bit faster but when you start getting loose primer pockets after 2-3 firings with Lapua brass, you're well above redline.

50 were $69.95 yesterday. What do you want for them shipped to 85646 ? I have 100 rounds of Hornady coming for $108

I wanted a .22-50 BMG AI but apparently it's not a thing :dunno:
yep that's the one!  Doing it!!!!  Thanks Beau!  We'll have Mike shoot it first though :chuckle:
Perfect
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

I'm going to add a caliber suggestion, I always wanted to build one of these, .22 eargesplitten loudenboomer.
Yes, it's really a thing.
I was always curious about barrel life on that one, and if Ackley ever recovered bullets to look at terminal performance.

6.5 SAUM 4S and never look back. Do some research on this caliber, you'll be hooked and never shoot another caliber again.

I like the 6.5-06 AI option. I just finished a 6.5x57 project, and without excessive pressure I am seeing 2953 fps with a 129 gr bullet. That is .270 Win muzzle velocity out of a 57, not 63 mm casing.  I am sure the 6.5-06 AI would turn in equally impressive numbers.

Have one and they do.  I use necked down Lapua 30-06 brass as my parent case and run it a little on the warm side and with a 26in tube it shoots 140 Bergers 3150-3170fps and well under .5 MOA.

Travis has built a bunch of 6.5-06AI's and I think with his reamer and throat he gets right around 3200 from a 26in tube with the 140 Bergers.
