Bet it works pretty good.
Your existing .223 can will work with a .204 As to the noise issue, in bolt rifles I've thought the noise level was very similar un-suppressed. I love shooting suppressed rifles, that should be a good setup if you build your 204AR.
If you are reloading, might look at Tac20. 223 brass almost free.

I really like the idea of a 20 Practical or 20 Tactical because you can use Lapua 223 brass which nearly lasts forever and if I wasn't so cheap I'd have one of my 223's rebarreled to 20 Practical but I really want another CZ 527 just need to figure out how I can slip it by "The Warden" without her noticing.
Re-barreling the 527 is pretty easy too.

James Calhoon is kind of a CZ 527 specialist and he told me, how they come right from the factory is pretty darn good and typically doesn't have to do much to them at all.
You had me right up until you said barrel nut. I appreciate their function and they definitely serve their purpose and have their place, it's just that place won't ever be on any of my guns. lol
