My 2016 blacktail
« on: December 19, 2016, 06:44:31 PM »
First post here, been hanging in the shadows for a while and figured I would join in. Here's a couple photos of this years freezer occupant. Private land that I took another good one off of in 2011 I believe it was. Been lucky and filled 4 out of my last 5 tags. Anyway here's the photos.

Enjoy

Thanks. It is 100% blacktail for sure. You aren't the first person who has thought that haha. It is fairly common for blacktail to have "whitetail" racks. The 4x4 (ok 3x3 with eye guards) I took 2 years ago was the same layout, just not as defined.

I've seen several also, and it's always cool seeing the more unique deer!

That's a nice buck. Can you share the details on how you bagged it (for us inexperienced archers to learn)?

Thanks guys.
Not much for details on this one, it was private land. Put the sneak on from about 100 yards in to 30, he was bedded down with a doe near by. Waited him out for 3 hours as I had no clean shot while he was bedded. He finally got up and walked wide around the brush pile I had between us. I ranged him, drew, and stepped out, the rest is history lol. Ran about 40 yards and down he went. He was definitely mature, not many teeth left in his mouth.
