I'm liking the responses, I'm 6'-05 and so far its been the only rig that is comfortable that isn't a fullsize.

She started out looking at the Grand Cherokee because my daughter has one and its been great for her, but I shot that down because it wasn't comfortable for me.

Haven't read anything about any tranny issue yet?

Have you looked at the newer Explorers? I'm 6'4" and I'm comfortable in ours. It's a '14. The newer ones have been really good for us.

We are looking at the Explorer wont be till next year sometime. Go back to Wenatchee all the time and would like to get the all wheel drive for the trips instead of always driving the truck.

My wife drives a 2010 Acadia. We both love it. No major issues with it as of yet. (130k miles). It does great in the snow and has plenty of power.  Very roomy also. I'm 6'3'' 230 and I have plenty of leg room. Very happy with it.

For long term reliability they received a 1 1/2 out of 5 stars.

Don't think I would buy an Acadia after reading these complaints.  :twocents:

I'd get an awd caravan. My buddies wife has one. It's sweet. All seats disappear in the floor for hauling stuff. Seats up in various configurations. Is a nice ride. I've rented the chev. And Toyotas. They just don't look as mini van ish. Get over that and the caravan is 10x the rig for the purpose. Brandon has left his four door jeep at home for weekend fly fishing trips in favor of a 12v plug in air mattress and lots of room to sleep.

I have a 2008 Acadia. Stay as far away from them as you can. It only has 110,000 miles on it and I've dumped 5 grand into fixing various issues. First one came at 30,000 and it was covered by warranty. Everything about mine is junk. Run run run run run away from the GMC Acadia.

I actually did a ton of research after posting this thread and it looks like the early Acadias did have some issues up to about 2012. Then after that the reviews are looking pretty good.

We ended up buying a 2015 and so far we love it.   Thanks for all the replies.

Our friends have a new Acadia, they're nice rigs.  We just bought a new Toyota Highlander, well,  because it's a little nicer and I'm a Toyota guy.  Both great rigs, just like the reliability of Toyota.  And they're made in Texas now, so another plus!

My sister hates her Acadia....Lots of room but it is nickel and dining them to death.  18 months ago we bought my wife a Toyota 4 runner with 3rd row seating and we love it.  We also looked at the Highlander but opted for the 4 runner because of our lifestyle and the versatility.  The new price of the 4runner spanked comparable vehicle prices.

Acadia is a rig that will kill the pocket book in the future. I learned the hard way with mine and it sounds like this story is like mine. Stay away from the Acadia!

Maybe it's a gm thing...  :chuckle: I know I won't be buying another anytime soon.
Admittedly I have no experience with the Acadia

So, a year later, how's the Acadia working out?
