Knight Bighorn Trigger Problems
« on: December 21, 2016, 11:22:13 AM »
Buddy of mine has a Bighorn and is having problems with the trigger.  The gun has been fired less than 30 times, he has completely cleaned the trigger group multiple times but is still having issues with the plunger not locking.  He called Knight to see about buying a new trigger but they said he had to ship it back and they'd replace for $200.  Anyone have any suggestions on a fix or recommend a replacement trigger?

Thanks for the help.

I do understand yours is a problem of not staying engaged and I have had the same issue once. I removed the trigger assembly and soaked it in the same cleaner that I clean the bore with then rinsed under hot water. Then I dried it with canned air and left to dry on the mantle where it could dry completely next to a heat source. After that I sprayed everything with a fine lubricant and canned air dried again, then reinstalled it to the barrel. At no time did I disassemble the trigger group :bdid: just a thorough cleaning. After a good cleaning you may need to readjust per the link I included.

If you pull the breech plug to dump out a load that you didn't fire, you can get powder down in that catch that holds your plunger open. That's what happened to mine. That will gum up the whole operation . Must keep it very clean.

Where are you located?  Maybe someone nearby can look at it?

I had my trigger do the same thing. You need to clean it ever time after the season and oil it. One time it went off as I released the safety.  :yike: scared the heck out of me. I took it apart and cleaned tge springs and lubed it. Also justed trigger pull. Has worked perfect for the last 3 years. Just keep it clean and lubed.  :twocents:

I had the same problem and found that the trigger assembly was not aligned perfectly with the barrel. Worked fine since I adjusted it.
