Cobra Derringer Longevity

Looking at getting a Cobra Derringer in .38spl. I've always wanted one and just want it for fun sake, they are only about $150 so why not? but I'm curious if anyone has some experience with this model and how long they last. I don't intend to put 500rds through the thing in one sitting but I also don't want to have to send it back all the time to be fixed. My dad used to have a .22lr version that only on barrel worked in but I hear that's common on the rim fire models but the center fire ones are better.

It is a derringer and if you use it for what it is intended for it will last as long as it takes for the cops to confiscate it as evidence in the justifiable homicide case you are involved in.

Well I would prefer to never need it, but I am one of those that says a .380 in the pocket is better than the .45 in your nightstand.

I have a very nice western Marshall derringer in .357, hurts to shoot but carries well, jade grips
so my 2 cents get it for that price

Not enough bullets or accuracy. By the time they're that close, you're already in trouble, unless it's your ankle backup for another firearm.

This gun kinda falls into the "want" category than a "need" category. I already carry a G26 and LCP2 every day so I probably wont be carrying this as a 3rd gun. Ive just always liked them and wanted one. and for the price I figured why not?

My dad years ago had a .22lr/22mag derringer. I don't remember the brand but only one barrel worked. was still fun to shoot though. I've heard the center fire guns by Cobra are built slightly better and less prone to problems vs the rim fire. I just don't want to buy one, take it out and it break in the first few shots.

I really like the Bond arms derringers, the build quality is great. however they are very expensive for what they are IMO. not saying they are not worth it in terms of materials and quality but I can buy a single stack 9 for what those cost.

I would personally feel safer defending myself with a knife instead of a derringer, plenty of smaller 9mm semi auto pistols that are easy to carry.
