Check out the Beretta A 350 or save a few bucks and look at the A300. SX3 is also a good choice, price might drop since the SX4 release.

SX4 should be awesome. I'm going to sell my new SX3 after duck season to get the SX4 because I didn't know it was coming out when I bought my gun a few weeks ago. Larger trigger guard for gloves and a bigger bolt release will be nice upgrades.

If you can find one, a Baikal side by side is a fine shotgun. I have one that's a single trigger (bleh) 20 gauge, but, has some pretty nice.features, auto electors, I forget the term, but the barrels are made so they are even and shoot accurately where it's pointed, tuned I guess, auto safety, shoots like a dream and keeps up against my buddy's citori.

My choice would be the SA3 or 4, Beretta A350 and or a Maxxus. As for Benelli's I have won 6 0r 7 at DU events and dumped everyone just because they will thump you hard. On a normal year I shoot 5K - 6K+ rounds a year even the Benelli auto's kick more than my O/U's, my backup clays gun is a SX2. Every Ruger I've owned had firing pin or extractor issues they all broke. Baikal makes a decent working gun, no frills, my saltwater auto is a MP153.

Quoted myself and smelling my own farts, but yeah, Baikal is Russian made. It's made as a working man's gun. Russian guns are amazing because they are made to be attempted to have the living S beat out.of them, but will never die. Mine is a MP-45E, 20gauge sxs. It's my go to do everything gun. Holds it's own at the trap club too. It's a no b.s. reliable save your life gun, that is also home at a country club. AK47 reliability in a gentleman's side by side

If I were going to buy a new shotgun, I'd buy a Benelli Super Black Eagle II. I've been shooting a buddy's Black Eagle for a few years and love it. It's more than you want to pay but worth it.

I know they aren't on your list but I love my Remington Versamax.  Shot it for a couple seasons now and no issues.  A little heavier than some, but the lightest recoil.  Remington has a more economical autoloader now that I've heard good things about too

A nice, gently used Browning Citori Lightning with chokes can be found all day for $1k or under.
It allows you to run two different chokes and ammo, depending on circumstances, will hold value better than the others, and is the easiest to maintain.
If an autoloader is really what you want, I'd look at the SX3 and Maxxus choices.
Fit is going to be the most important factor.

Of all the people I know that had to have 3.5 inch guns, none of them have shot a 3.5 inch round.
