Should slingshots be allowed for grouse hunting?

Those raised as kids in the country prior to 1980 probably had lots of practice.  Those raised on Xbox and Nintendo might lack the experience.

i broke out the back window of my Dads 78 ford when I was a kid with one...I guess some firearms safety rules are universal to all projectile launching methods. "Be sure of your target and what lies beyond and around it"

Yup and if a kid could get his hands on few 50 caliber lead balls they hit really hard!

As the moose camp cook my grandmother used to get dozens of grouse each year in Canada with a sling shot.  She claimed the best ammo for grouse were old studs taken out of snow tires.  But claimed that even green pinecones would work fine for grouse.

I can't even begin to count how many barn swallows we cleared from the calving barn back when the family had the dairy farm.  We weren't allowed to use steel or lead in that barn so we used hazel nuts and a sling shot instead of our bb/pellet guns.

I'd love to see that rule change and allow the use of slingshots on grouse.

We used sling shots in Canada on our moose hunt to kill grouse, it works just fine.

Ok, time for a cold band slingshot project, no walking in the projectiles. 

Post your range, weather conditions, ammo of choice, band/s used and draw weight, prong spacing and handle type. 


we'll have three classes

1) commercial slingshot with wrist stabilizing straps shooting ball bearings.
2) self made handles w/o wrist straps shooting formed commercial shot.
3) primitive Y sticks off a bush with rubber strap material shooting primitive ammo such as rocks or other non-produced shot.

anyone watched any videos on youtube of the german guy? I think his channel is called "the sling shot channel" he seems like a pretty cool dude. Jacked himself up pretty good with a ricochet ball bearing in one video

Better get your multi-season and sling shot applications in by the 1st. Only $10 to apply and $150 if you draw. That early wrist wrocket season can be amazing.  Cant beat the taste of a rock killed bird. No pellets to bite on either. Just be careful to use good judgement if you're close to private property. They could fly onto the private after you shoot. Your fault if they do that. Also dont forget to get your wrist rocket endorsement. You need a different one for state land and one for forest service. You can also get one for shooting from a vehicle if you're lucky enough to draw. Good luck!
