looks good, but I am a woose. 

It honestly tasted like deer but far less gamey. Had almost no gamey flavor at all actually. I think I'm going to make tacos out of the rest of it tomorrow night. 
After you try some you'll kind of feel guilty about using for bait rather than cooking it yourself. Although, if you use it to catch bobcats you'll realize how much better eating they are. Bobcat is probably my favorite eating small game now.

Seriously though you need to try some bobcat steaks fried with some salt, pepper and minced onions. You will say wow!

A few days ago I found a nice new beaver dam and pond that had tons of fresh sign and it had an well defined bottleneck spot that was easy to target. I threw a cage in there thinking it was guaranteed fur the next day. I checked it yesterday and there were several new chewed on sticks floating right at the trap and one door was open but the other was closed. I have little hooks built into the doors to make setting the trigger super easy but you have to remember to take the hooks off when the trigger is set. I forgot one door.    So I figured I'd throw two more traps in that area of the pond since the beaver is probably shy for one cage spot now. Checked them today and one cage that was in a shallow spot became a little out of the water after the creek dropped and I'm assuming an otter was in there and had enough time to destroy that edge of the cage and get out. That's frustrating!
Checked another spot that had a lot of fresh sign where I tried an edge set on a creek yesterday that was too wide and deep with no good bottleneck and ended up getting another 10-15 lb kit! I've tried edge sets before and have never gotten anything and usually avoid trying them for that reason. May have to try them more often. I know the guy Sam Woods on YouTube gets tons of rats and beaver with just edge sets on small creeks.

Im forgetfully about little things like safety hooks too. So my new trap design I have a pair of wire hooks I carry with me to set them. Just have to check my pockets every time I leave a set if no hooks in my pocket then I know its still on the set trap! Saved me once so far this year!

That's exactly what I've been doing the last three years but there was a few times I had no idea where my tool was and had to use some random sticks to set my trap plus a few times I dropped it into the murky abyss of a deep beaver pond and had to feel around til I found it. I love how much easier and faster it is to set traps now but I just need to get in the habit of checking every trap before I walk away. I knew I would be guilty of it at some point.

They are pretty good eating I must say but the hind legs are the only thing worth really cooking plus the bones are kind of big. I was thinking if you got several of them it might be good to cook them like hot wings.

I've never eaten one but I know down south a lot of people eat them and I hear they're delicious. Oddly enough, they are really rare around here.
