Cultusman Trapline
« on: December 26, 2016, 05:58:37 PM »

Busy at work so not planning on spending a lot of time trapping. Got this week off work and got my Cat traps set on Friday and Saturday.
Caught Cat #2 today and had a Bear roll one of my traps all over the woods until it was half full of snow, got lucky it wasn't damaged.

Good job! Really surprised a bear is still out. Must have woke up to the smell of fresh beaver!

Are you sure it was a bear? I'm thinking cougars are more likely to mess with your cages this time of year than bears. My guess anyhow. I would think a bear would absolutely destroy your cage to get the bait inside.  :dunno:
I know last year I had a big animal get in my cage far enough to get the bait and trigger it but it pushed my cage several feet into the bushes. There was also a fairly fresh pile of large cat poo just down the road so I'm willing to bet it was a cougar. Didn't destroy my cage though.

Positive it was a Bear, Cougar doesn't have a big heel on its hind foot.
It spent some time rolling that cage around in a foot of snow, plenty of tracks to look at. I also thought it was odd it didn't rip the wire off the cage to get at the bait.

It's not the size of the trophy that make's it a trophy.
