08 modern buck
« on: February 13, 2009, 06:41:38 PM »
Thought I'd share pics and short story on my 08 twisp area buck. Go'es like this,,, we get to our family cabin day before season on the chewuch river do a little scoutin then hit the rack get up way early opening morning trying to get there before everybody else, yeah right. finnaly get up to the top of chicamun canyon and theres like 8 or 9 rigs already there , so we get geared up and hit the ground about the same time as everybody else, kinda like a shotgun start.lol. well all the other guys are headin up the main trail so I take a left straight up the hill get about 20 feet and have to shed my coat. Finnaly make it thru a drainage or two and find 6 deer bedded on a small flat, two leagal bucks take off side hill so I go into bow elk mode and start runnin find a big dead tree and get it between us, take a rest and wait, the bigger legal lags behind and Boom 150 grn nbt drops him. hour into the opener and im done. two hours later and I'm back at the truck havin a brew. Was'nt the biggest buck at 17 wide but I was happy as could be. seems like it's had to connect with a legal these days.
Never give up, he will show up.

Thanks guys. I've only taken two bucks out of that area with mixed results, the first one was a big old 3x5 that we could barely eat, but he made awsome sausage and pep. Then this guy that is flat out delicious. not sure what the difference is but oh well.

nice buck.  Always cool when you tag up early.  Then you can help other people hunt.  Less pressure...

:yeah:  Or you could just help them get motivated by sitting in camp, and when they ask why your not helping...point at your buck and tell them your done! LMAO

Nice buck by the way....I love the way a dark antler perfect 3 looks! Good Job!

You could do that, but then Karma gets a case of the ass and you don't kill another deer for several years... :chuckle:
