FWIW, I love shooting my Savage 93R17 Laminate Thumbhole rifle, fun little gun.
There's a sweet 1903 classic sporter I am just drooling over
CZ 527 Varmint in 17 Hornet. If you're looking for a smallish rifle that handles like a rimfire and is nearly as quiet as one but with a lot more pop on the other end, these little CZ 527's in 17 Hornet are a sweetheart to shoot. The CZ's 527's are extremely accurate, have an outstanding trigger and just an all around great quality little gun. I prefer the Varmint model over the American and it only weighs slightly more. A CZ 527 in 204 wouldn't be a bad choice either.
17 WSM. Because they look interesting and I don't know anyone that has one.

Well, I suppose I shouldn't post pictures of my 1895 GS or post the link of the 6.5 Swedish I've been lusting after.http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,198022.msg2629774.html#msg2629774http://www.armslist.com/posts/6200052/everett-washington-rifles-for-sale--1907-carl-gustafs-m94-carbine-6-5-swedish-mauser
Marlin 1895 in .45-70. Wish I had never gotten rid of mine!!!

Definitely has more pop than the 17 HMR, especially when you start getting out past 150 yards. For high volume sage rat shooting my 17 WSM is cheaper to shoot than my 17 Hornet and I don't have to worry about saving the brass but my CZ 527 is a much nicer gun and if I could only pick one, I'd take my 17 Hornet over my 17 WSM.
Both ends of the spectrum for me. Id really like a 50cal but would settle for a 17WSM
