Fleshing knives

I've got several but haven't found THAT one that just works for me . I just ordered a POST 2  handled flesher that a buddy recommended
 What's your favorites and why ?

I have one that I used with taxidermy, but have no idea the make.  It's thin,sharp and works better than my hunting knife.  I could work faster with it.

I just bought a Wiebe 12" and it looks like it will work well for coyotes.  I've had a 10" wood handled one fro MN Trappers supply that worked well for 40 yrs but the handles gave up the ghost last season.  I've reground some large files to make fleshing knives also.  Beaver I use a draw knife and mink and rats a big spoon.

Best there is IMO and worth every penny. I bought a necker a few years ago and its an OK flesher but it comes dull for some stupid reason. Still didn't hold a razor's edge that long. Borrowed my uncle's Post to finish the season and it was amazing the difference between that and a necker. No more getting a workout from fleshing a beaver. It takes a little time to get used to how sharp it is so you don't put holes in everything because it is just that sharp. Between my uncle and me we have probably fleshed 50 animals which includes otter, beaver, Bobcat and coon and it is still just as sharp.

Love the wiebe pelting and skinning knife, but love my necker for fleshing.

Go to www.trapperman.com ask for a Lee Steinmeyer's fleshing knife.  Best one out there in my opinion! You have to be careful when you first start using it.  Silly sharp, Second season using it and it will still send you to the ER for stitches if you handle it wrong, makes beaver and otter soon much easier!  Beautiful knives as well.

I picked up a Necker 200 years ago that I really  like.
The 600 took its place.
I also have a Necker 700 that is good for beaver work.
 
BUT .......  .............. than I picked up an 8" and a 12" Weibe knife a couple of years ago from "Wildlife Damage Management"/ Ted Cantrell.  I really like the 8" knife, its my go to knife now.  I even use this one for raccoons.  Great knife.    Contact Ted and pick one up.  You can find his ad in THE FUR SHED Newsletter.  Support our / your Advertisers and WSTA Vendors.

And "NO" my Kecker 200 is not for sale.  Way to many guys have ask me to sell it over the years.  Its a great fleshing knife.

I got my post fleshing knife last night ! Wow is all I can say this thing is amazing I practiced on a small beaver and I'm glad I did and not a cat  I put quite a few holes in it but I got the angle and pressure down now it works like a dream! Little to no effort to peel the flesh off ( and some hide )

I have a personal thing against stainless steel.  So after realizing I needed to throw that $15 fleshing knife in the scrap metal bin, I bought an MB.  It's a game changer!  No more sweat!  No more muscle pain!  Easy to sharpen.

I also bought the ulu style grizzle getter.  That has taken some getting used to but it works good on the tight spots.
Weibe, Necker and Post use stainless.  Anyone know what Sheffield uses for steel?
