applying for 2017 spring bear
« on: January 02, 2017, 08:18:03 AM »
I was on the WDFW site and when I clicked the link to apply I could not find where the application was.  If I click on big game on the new site it only has the options for multi season deer and elk.  Can anyone help me out with how to summit the spring dear application?

Thanks,

Chris

Did you click "buy permits" or "submit applications"
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

You have to buy a regular fall bear tag first

then you buy the spring bear application

then you submit your hunt choice

It's a pain in the but the first few times you do it and confusing, lot of folks forget about step 3 and their 6 bucks is gone. Make sure you submit your application after you purchase it.

I usually purchase the combination license, which includes deer, elk, bear, and cougar. As soon as you make that purchase, the applications for special permit hunts will show up as options to purchase. Actually I'm not sure if two transactions are necessary or not. I think when you select the bear license, either as an individual item, or as part of a combination license, the spring bear application might show up at that time.

Well I tried to purchase the 2017 combo(deer/elk/bear/cougar/ w/small game) and it wouldn't let me because it "conflicts with previous purchase" which I believe is the 2016 tags.  I am going to try and call fish and game later to see what I am doing wrong.  I guess I have till the end of February to apply so I should have it figured out by then.

Thanks for all your help guy and if anyone figure it out could you post it up.

Thanks,

Chris

I just went in to the WDFW site to see about the Spring bear tag, and the only 2017 licenses available to click on are the multi season deer and elk applications. The paper 2016 game regs say that Spring bear application should be available on Jan 2. Today is a State holiday I think, so that may be part of the problem. Being a new system, it may take a little longer to get it all set up. colersu22, did you call them?

Yeah I called but no one answered and I figured it was a holiday for them.  I am going to try checking online tomorrow and calling them if I cant get it online.

You cannot buy your 2017 license yet. They said they will go on sale the middle of this month, assuming after the proposed increases go into effect.

If prices do go up, I don't believe the new prices will be in effect for several months. I believe it's usually July 1st.
