1-4 depends on the unit... I really don't buy into IDFG "random" draw on these tags and really a lot of the tags for anything. Its a good thing for non residents :chuckle:  I've looked at odds of some of the deer, elk and moose units over the years and the odds of non residents pulling their 10% in some of these draws with so few non resident apps is staggering. When your charging $2,250 for a OIL tag your trying to tell me that IDFG isn't making sure to pull a few of these non residents for the money. As we all know they are hurting for cash when we hear advertisements on our local radio stations to buy tags!

Unit 1 moose gives a lot of tags and can be a very tough hunt..I know a local who hunted it this past fall and lives in the unit and went to the last day and shot a tiny bull to fill the tag. Ive heard of many struggling to see a moose. Unit 4,5 and 6 are really good hunts and some on here have drawn them and could probably help. I know a area in unit 5 you could have a great time and see a ton of bulls.

Odds are posted on the web in an easy to use format. They are drastically different depending on hunt choice and dates. The hunt I drew there were 10 tags and like 56 or 65 apps. Seen some odds of 5 and 25 apps, but keep in mind the 10% limit of going to nr as it is not per hunt choice with oils it is overall. But I am with huntnnw on that it seems like they always get the full 10 to nr even with drastically low nr apps.  :twocents:

The Idaho Game Commission reduced the amount of moose  tags for the northern part of the Panhandle Region.  They are planning on closing the season in unit 1-3, and taking away 45 tags for the rest of unit 1.  Also reduced cow tags in unit 2 down by 20.  You can go to IDFG site and read the whole story.

It's not that hard to believe that nonresidents hit the 10% cap each year when they make up in many cases more than 50% of the application pool, the reality of it is as an Idaho resident my odds are better on many OIL tags than most of the deer, elk or antelope special hunts

It is a max of 10% per hunt choice and 10% of the overall numbers, so if a unit has 10 tags only 1 can go to nonresident

Andrew, you're back!
My interpretation of the rules are open to interpretation.
Once I thought I was wrong but I was mistaken.
