Should the minumum caliber restriction exist?
« on: January 04, 2017, 02:12:09 PM »
I am starting this Poll to address a discrepancy in the other thread. The other thread was about changing the minimum caliber. This thread is regarding abolishing the minimum caliber rule as it is now and implementing something similar to other states that provides guidelines on firearms for big game.

Type of weapon aside, we should be allowed to use what we want.

Other thread? This suggests there are only two, maybe one of the mods should "merge" them all into one since it's basically one discussion anyway. :dunno:

Lots of threads, all seem to have the same topic. At least close to the same anyway...

This thread was intended to be more subjective and a clean slate from the other ones. the options in the poll are a little better

The best avenue to take if you want a true taste is to lock the thread and not allow comments, but let folks vote. That way...you'll only get the votes.

OK, so nobody comment. Just vote.
Let's see how that works.

I voted to leave it alone. If removed you could get people trying to prove how good a shot they are and start taking unnecessary risks of wounding animals. It's similar to people who fish for salmon with trout gear for the fight. The difference is you might wound an animal that runs off and dies and is wasted or doesn't die and is mutilated. :twocents:
My interpretation of the rules are open to interpretation.

Meh, I'd rather hunt elk with my .25-20 than a .223 anyways.   :chuckle:

I think people are more likely to take unnecessary risks using larger calibers thinking they are Christ Kyle.

.243 is fine for the min caliber. I don't see why it needs or should be changed.
