McNary Field Pit Blinds
« on: January 06, 2017, 10:38:03 AM »
Are the Pit blinds in the fields at McNary any good?  I have never heard of anyone hunting them.

I'm curious about this as well, they aren't often taken but they must be good sometimes. This kind of info is known by locals and closely guarded I think!
what in the wild wild world of sports???

Yes they can be good at times for both ducks and geese.

Most of the time that is a very big no field hunting geese there. Too much blasting from the duck hunters on the water to work birds and many private fields around.  If froze the fowl are out of the refuge and they have the numbers recorded on hunter success so there is not one guarded secret.  I only duck hunt there and still waiting for that lone goose to fly by at a water blind which came close once but shooting started from another blind.
Don't read my post if facts hurt your feeling.

Their recorded hunter success spreadsheet is pretty suspect and relies on hunters and staff to record accurate data.  It was a lot better 2 years ago when they updated it online after every hunt day.  It really shouldn't take much time to update an excel sheet at the end of the day and press attach and upload on the admin side of their website.

It seemed most of the hunters were in the high number blinds.
I hunted 5. Got 0 ducks and a lone goose.
It's not true that I am good for nothing---I can be used as a bad example!!
