Which/where MREs to get
« on: March 17, 2017, 07:52:46 AM »
I've read a few of the MRE vs Mountain House threads, so I realize MREs are not the best. But, I'm been invited on a fly in trip and was told to get a case of MREs, so that's what I'm going with. Are there different brands, or is everything just military surplus? I will order online.

Its been awhile ... but there are different brands.  From what I remember, a lot of the civilian mres suck.  They contain less and arent that good, not that military mres are any 5 star meal.  I personally would look for military surplus.  There should be 2 different cases available.  Pick the batch of meals you like best.  Some are pretty horrible, but they change them every now and then so not sure what is still around.

You can pick cases up on eBay with only a year or so life left on the inspection for under 100$ after shipping usually, or surplus stores usually have em about the same price.
