Broke in the new .22-250
« on: January 13, 2017, 06:11:10 PM »
Well after several incidents of getting yelled at about my 140gr ELDX blowing coyotes apart I finally broke down and picked up a .22-250 Ruger American. Sighted it in this morning and then killed the only coyote I got a shot at today. Its never missed! Lol 1/1

It's been an odd year for coyotes.

My friend and I have put 5 down in the last few days. Been seeing them day and night here. Will definitely be back for more. They are in a frozen pile in the back of the truck.

They are currently spoken for. With these single digit temps, the hides are plush!

Ha thanks buesch, and I honestly have more than I can handle at the moment. Just a heads up, stacking them in the truck, regardless of how cold it gets, is a sure way to get green belly and hair slip. Just an FYI. If your going have them carcass for a few days, do not stack them.

So blowing them up is bad? But only if you are going to use the pelt right? I figured ballistic tips = instant dead. I'm new to master yoting please explain. Thank you

we save the hides. the 6.5 creedmoor was putting holes in coyotes big enough to put a 2 liter pop bottle in if the bullet hit bone. .22-250 with vmax's didn't have exit holes

Okay that's what I figured thank you for explaining. I use 60 grain nosler ballistic tips and see your point 4" exit wounds. But man it sure is bad medicine on those buggers.
