Montana Draw Info

I'm trying to figure out the refund/draw process for the first time. Is the license cost refunded to you if you don't draw? Looks like you can apply starting January 23rd. Any information would be helpful

 What are you applying for?
The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first!

Not sure about deer but for elk you can put in for a permit and if you don't draw, you return your elk tag minute like $50. Montana doesn't do ghost points so this is how my old man and I have been building elk points

Ok cool. I figured out the Wyoming system from researching but I'm having more of a problem with the Montana program.

This was helpful just found it. But if you draw one of the 17,000 deer/elk combo licenses do you get your money back if you don't draw the area you put in for still?

Yes minus a fee which I think is $50, at least for elk

Do you burn your points if you draw a 2nd choice application?

Online they are saying you only reciece 80% of your license on the refund. Thats pretty steep for building points

I believe you burn them but can't say for sure as I haven't drawn yet. It is steep but if you are already going to deer hunt you might as well.
