22 Nosler?

.220 swift or 22-250 work quite well, no need to reinvent the wheel.. although this is designed for ARs but i believe there is a few 22-250 ars in production?

It's for AR15's. 22-250 is AR10 and is a much bigger and heavier rifle. I like the 22Nosler over .223 WSSM as the Nosler is double stack and does not require proprietary upper receiver and bolt.

I run both these rifles almost exclusively. I consider my 220 the long end of the law for varmints, but about 40 % of the time, I'm putting BIG holes in yotes. Wouldn't trade it for the world though.

Pretty much sums it up. I guess it's a good option for the factory ammo guys though. I'd probably go with the 224 AR (22/6.5 Grendel) though just so that it would run at a shorter OAL. That much case capacity really deserves a heavier bullet and a shorter case would make that a viable option in the stumpy little AR-15 mags.

When I saw this I thought immediately that this is nothing new.   I read about this cartridge forty years ago reading C.S Landis and Phil Sharpe's works. 

It is an old cartridge w/new powders it reaches it's full potential ~ 1940 Leslie Lindahl  .22 Lindahl Chucker in both rimmed and rimless versions. These are based on shortened .219 Zipper and .25 Remington cases respectively.

Don't forget the newer, but still obsolete, .225 Winchester which was an "updated" Zipper.

At first blush, this seems like a great cartridge.  But when looking at Ramshot's 5.56 load data, with same 24" test barrels and 55 grain bullets, the 22 Nosler has less than a 50 fps advantage.
  I'd happily give up 50fps to run a 24" barreled 5.56 over same barrel length  22 Nosler.
