Tires for my Silverado 2500HD

time for tires, 245 75 17 load range E. My tires are OK, need to run 80lb air  rear, 60 lb front. in 2 wheel rear tires spin a lot. What do I need? I know a Lighter foot!!

A neighbor had those tires on that same make/model and switched to the 265s saying they made a noticeable difference in the ride.  He would make multiple trips a year pulling lots of horses back and forth to Idaho and said they performed a little better.  They fit on the same rim.  Not sure if that helps much.

If the truck is empty you should dropped the air pressure. If it were me I'd drop to 60 like the front. If your gona load that sucker up for a decent drive then I'd bump it back up. Make your tires last longer and get more traction.

Should, the tires are only 20mm wider.

Depending on what year the rig is. I believe after 2011, you cannot adjust the TPMS because of federal law.

And yes, get the air pressure down. Overinflated tires wear out quicker.

Had new tires installed on my wife's Lexus last week, had them replace the two tire pressure censers that were bad.  Turns out the other two went bad after they replaced the bad ones.  60.00 a piece, sucks!

265 Michelins from Costco and good or bad they put the Nitrogen in so pressure never changes with temps. I got 94k on a set of Michelins and I've been sticking with them. Darn good tire.

My Dad has tried to find a way to reset the values on his 2008 F350. He put on larger off-road tires (Cooper SST) the factory value is 85 pounds, he's basically been hold its not possible to reset it. Both the Ford dealer and tire shop say it's against federal,law to change it. I'd appreciate any leads on who could reset the value to a level appropriate for the tire.

If you go to a different height tire just get a Bluetooth dongle off amazon for your OBD port $13. Get the Torque pro app for $5.99. for your phone and you can set the tire height and most other parameters.

guys either like or dislike Schwab . Just for thought, got my last set of tires from them in OR.. no tax, they even gave a mil discount if that applies.. saved close to 400 on a set installed over same schwab here in WA and all will service you post purchase.

A lot of vehicles are built with an "error factor" built in. If you check your speedometer vs gps you are not going quite as fast as the speedo says. When I went to 265's on my truck all it did was correct that 2-3 mph difference at highway speeds. I run Cooper AT3's, on my 3rd set now and have been very pleased. I run 60psi on all 4 empty and run the rears up to 75 when pulling.

I ditched my AT3's and went to BFG KO2's on my F150.  I couldn't be happier, those AT3's were some of the worst winter driving tires I've ever had, I was so disappointed in them. 

I liked the KO2's so much I bought a second set for the F250 HD.  I personally love the grip they give in the winter and the thicker sidewall from the original KO's.  If I had to guess I would say over half of the people at my shop are running the KO2's and no body complains about them.

If I remember correctly the light isn't the problem. It's illegal to run them without. Not that you'll get a ticket for that but you won't find many/anyone to put a nail hole patch in your Tire, rotate etc without buying some.

Thanks, I will try lowering the rear pressure until the warning comes on maybe I can get down to 65-70 lbs. I like  the look of the BF Goodrich tires.

I would not recommend sieping if your going to be driving on gravel roads at all, it will have chunks of your tires coming off.

I ditched my AT3's and went to BFG KO2's on my F150.  I couldn't be happier, those AT3's were some of the worst winter driving tires I've ever had, I was so disappointed in them. 

I liked the KO2's so much I bought a second set for the F250 HD.  I personally love the grip they give in the winter and the thicker sidewall from the original KO's.  If I had to guess I would say over half of the people at my shop are running the KO2's and no body complains about them.

I've had the KO2s on my Ram 1500 through two winters now and am very happy with them, especially with multiple Wenatchee-Seattle drives the past several weeks.  Very good traction on wet pavement, snow and mud, and as good as any unstudded tire can be on ice.  I will note that I don't do a ton of driving (11-14k/year), and with less than 20k on them treadwear is pretty noticeable.  I'm not sure I'd stick with them if I drove high mileage, they are great but not cheap and I'm guessing I'll have to replace them every 30-35k to get the performance I want.

We have a giant fleet of trucks at my work. We switched to the BFG KO2 tires and we run them at vehicle factory specs with trucks that have tpms. We have had "0" issues with any of them wearing faster than normal. We track all of our vehicles with a computer management system and we are getting about 50k from them(we could get more but our shop sets minimum tread depth requirements) These are on 20 3/4 ton trucks and abhalf dozen 1/2 tons. They are an excellent tire. For the record we have run most of the big name manufacturers and have finally chosen BFG as what works for us. Good luck with your choice

Costco has the best price on bfg tires. I run the ko2 on my work truck and they are great! Quite, smooth ride. Seem like they will last pretty long, pretty tough tire that is good off road except for mud.

If you run front and rear tires at the same pressures, regardless of how high or low of pressure, will the tpms still give an error code? Asking because I don't know the answer.

Coach - I trust you as I have seen your referrals on this site.  I run my tires lower in PSI and the TPMS light is always on in my truck.  Literally everyone I talk to, tire shop wise, cannot override this TPMS.  Drives me nuts.  It's a 2014 Ram 2500.

I'd love to know how to override this, without driving to your shop.

Although most, if not all, factory scanners can reset the tire rating and pressure setting we will not do it in any of our stores. To many liabilities and per our factory agreement we are forbidden to.

Now if a good friend borrows a scan tool and figures out how to change it with simple instructions that is something I can't control

P metrics are passenger rated  normally 2-4 ply. The bare minimum in capacity for oem tires. For on road driving they are usually fine but those a bunch of weight on them or go off in the shot rock gravel roads and they likely won't.  E RATED tires I belive are 10 ply and plenty sturdy for any 3/4 ton application

I have 2006 chev silverado 2500 hd - just put on a set if michelin 265 ltz and love 'em. Much quieter, smoother ride and better mileage than the knobbies I was running before. I also have a 40 hp boost chip and these michelins stick like glue..... funny, they sure dont look like they would grip when I stomp 425 hp but they barely chirp. The old knobbies would break loose when I glanced at the loud pedal but the michelins are MUCH better. Even in the snow / ice going over the pass last week no problemo. I bought the michelins from Tire Rack and had them installed locally. The set of 4, including tax, mounting, valvrs, etc totaled less than a grand.
