Looking for squeakers
« on: January 21, 2017, 07:18:51 PM »
I built a pigeon loft today for a buddy, he's getting a pointing griffon in April. Now we need some homers, hoping to find some squeakers. If anybody knows where to buy 6-10 of them feel free to PM me

Do you have any pics of the loft you built?  Looking at potentially starting to house some birds myself.  Also, do you know where you buddies Griff is coming out of?  I have one myself and haven't run into many others!

Didn't take any pics, I will this weekend when we finish it up. Left one side open so we can add a recall cage. I believe his pup is coming from Lewiston

Tried craigslist before posting, couldn't find squeakers. There's a few people selling adult pigeons though. I read somewhere if you wait for them to breed and lay eggs, they'll come back to a new loft. Anybody try this?

If you get a couple breeding pairs and lock them in, they will raise a brood or 3 before your buddy even gets his pup. Those adults will then call that loft home provided they aren't super homers. I have had lots of success doing that. If the birds are happy they will breed like rats and you will have more birds than you want. I started with 5 pair and was up to 40 plus birds in no time.
