Gmu 460??
« on: January 22, 2017, 06:10:31 PM »
Hello everyone,  Im hoping to hunt until 460 this fall for black tail and or elk . I'm a first time adult hunter. I didn't grow up in a hunting family but I have been an advid outdoors man , hiking, fly fishing camping , shed hunting. I guess I would say hunting found me. I want to take the next step and learn to hunt . I find myself tracking deer and elk following sign, learning there habits. I have a muzzleloader and modern fire arm. I'm looking to hunt the 460 unit this fall mostly because it's close to home for scouting purposes. Just wondering what you guys think good place to start? Any suggestions. I'm not looking for honey holes etc.. Thanks in advance Jason

I would definitely buy a pass for the Snoqualmie tree farm. That will open up a lot of area to you.

I live in SNOQUALMIE and can agree that it isn't all that great.  Quite a few bear and cats.  Elk do hang on private property down low most of the time.  Most deer I have seen have been on the northern side of the unit.  Back in the Hancock property towards the alpine lake wilderness.

I was wondering about populations in the area due to predators.

Blue tongue is not hair loss. There is no blue tongue here.

Lots of Cats keeping the deer numbers low in that GMU.

I've seen so many cats in 460 the last few years, it's crazy.
