Quality affordable traditional bows
« on: January 13, 2017, 10:01:53 AM »
Anyone have some suggestions on quality traditional bows at a reasonable price? Say 400 & under.  I'm wanting to give it a whirl this year. I appreciate it.

I like the Bob Lee's. They are expensive new, but if you watch you can pick them up at about 1/3 the cost of new. Do a little reading on what to watch for in a used bow and you should be fine going that route. The difference in a used quality trade and a new budget bow is huge.

Join forums like Archery Talk, the Leatherwall, and Trad Talk and watch the classifieds.  You can get a lot of bow for $400 in the used market.

I just posted a Bezaleel longbow with 3 dozen arrows in the classifieds. You won't find a cheaper or better quality bow for that.

Call Ted Fry at Raptor Archery in Hood River. Hes a great guy and his shop is 100% traditional.... usually has at least 100 new and used bows in stock.

I recommend a light pound bow to start so you develope good form.

You can find an older Bear or Pearson for around 100 bucks.

The Samick Sage is a popular introductory bow for around 130 tyd.
You might consider attending the Traditional Rendezvous in May as well.
