Decoy's
« on: February 16, 2009, 10:33:09 PM »
Besides Stuffers............  What kind and how many (fake) decoys do you use?    Like 5 years ago I pcked up a 4 pack of inflatable  decoys from Sceery and LOVE them.  I can carry a whole flock!  and it takes less room and wieghs about the same but all 4 deflate down to half the size as one flambeau jake or hen!
What do you use?

In my opinon you only need at the most 2 decoys and sometimes you dont even need them. I dont understand why you have a whole flock???? and your gunna be *censored* outa luck if a tom decides he wants to spur one of them inflatable decoys.

I don't use them anymore because I've had two toms come in only to see the decoy and turn tail. And I've never had them seal the deal for me. So I don't carry them anymore. Freed up room in my vest.

I put out 2 dozen inflatables looks like a big party. When a big tom comes in and starts to spur my decoy's it sounds like a war going on.  :chuckle:  You got to like that one Yelp.

Anyone seen the new decoys from that shop down in Oregon? I cant find the link anymore but I think the guy is out of Corvallis. They are extremely realistic but expensive.

Oh I have seen them, they are pretty sweat. Except I think over $100 for one decoy is a bit much. If I had the money maybe.

If a Tom popped one of my decoys it would make my day  :IBCOOL:.  How many times have you used more than 2 decoys  :dunno:?  If you havnt than you probably shouldnt have an opinion!  I dont always put all of them out.  Have you ever had a Tom come in only not to see your decoy?  I have.  With more decoys out it gives more opportunity for the birds to see a decoy.  I rarely hunt fields, so normaly when a bird sees the decoy he is within range or almost within range.

callm down pal. pull the --- outa your a--. all i was saying was that " IN MY OPINION" 2 decoys is max. From what i have experienced you dont need a decoy everytime. I have never hunted a field and by the time the turkey would see the decoys he would be dead. Just like YOU said " normally when a bird see's the decoy he is in range or almost in range", so why use it then if you can already shoot him by the time he see's it or he is almost in range where you could make some soft pur's to bring him close enough to shoot. SO next time you have a question about what i said because you dont understand what i was sayin, why dont you be mature and ask me about it or my hunting experiences. I never said you were wrong and i was rite so dont think i was sayin you were wrong. We are all hunters that have a rite to our opinion as long as we dont bash others but obviously you thought different
