Mountain Goat outfitters?
« on: February 17, 2009, 11:59:53 AM »
Anyone been after goats in British Columbia and have an outfitter they could recommend?  I want a goat in the worst way, and don't see the Washington tag lining my pocket anytime soon, so was thinking maybe I better just book a goat hunt while I am still relatively young?  Any recommendations would be appreciated.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.
You are never to old to learn something stupid.

WDFW and washingtonmuley : Do you guys recommend AK based on price, quality of animals, or quality of guides? Just curious, I would also love to get a goat!

Scott Newman out of petersburg, AK has killed some monster goats.  I have been on a brown bear hunt with him and he is a great guy let alone a great outfitter + he will personally guide you.

Those guys do get the big ones, but wholly crap are they expensive!!! They have a bunch in B&C though.

I'm curious why everyone says Alaska also, to me BC is the way to go. I've been doing my homework and plan to go in 2010.

Bid on the Washington auction tag.  The tag has been very resonable in the past and we have some great goats here in WA.  If your a DIY kinda guy, you'll get a lot more hunting and scouting for your $.

With the economy the way it is, may be a great deal.

There are just as many really big goats in SE AK as there are in BC just depends where you hunt.  Some of the areas are really over hunted  and killing a 45in goat would be tuff.  Other places have world records that die of old age.

Goats are easy to find around Sitka, AK.  Not easy to get to, but easy to find.  Try Jim Boyce out of Sitka or Port Alexander.  If you want more info let me know.
