AR-15, what brand would you go with?
« on: February 17, 2009, 12:11:53 PM »
I was thinking about buying a Olympic arms Model K-16 for coyote hunting.
http://www.olyarms.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=48&category_id=7&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=37

What do you guys think about the Oly Arms rifles? Do they hold value , loose value. Are the a good value for the buck? I dont know much about them. I've always wanted to get one anyway. Are there other brands that are better that are around the same price?

I have one add love it, it shoots sub moa easy and there are priced right. I have never had a problem with it and it's got over 1000 rd's down the tube. The only other company that has some thing simular in that price range is DPMS but the oly seemed to be a little nicer.

i bought a bushmaster but that was before the gun scare and price increase... that oly has a significantly lower price, i havent looked into them much and some bad mouth them but the parts should be interchangeable and for that price it looks like a sweet deal

I'm pickin up a Smith tomorrow.  The local shop has two new smiths and one used Rock River varmint A-4.  Very nice, it's got a bi-pod, and nice scope on it ready to go.

I love my bushmaster varminter, but comparing the 2 on their respective websites the bushmaster is almost double the money.  I really like mine but I doubt it is double the gun.

In his title he asks "what brand would you go with" I simply expressed my opinion, its up to him to decide if its too much money :dunno:

I just dont know what the differences are in each manufacturer. Has anyone owned a Olympic arms and a bushmaster? Can YOU tell me the differance , if you think its worth the extra cash? Seems like the ol' Ruger is better than Browning which is better than Winchester, which is better than Savage which is better than.......?? I dunno.
