Anyone running a sawtooth tent?

Probably making a tent purchase this week and I'm about 90% sure it will be a kifaru sawtooth.  Anyone using one?

Lots of nights in the sawtooth. Great shelter. I have had it in the hot summers all the way down to single digit with the stove. Its been through some pretty strong wind storms as well.

Anyone know the weight of just the canopy? No poles, no pegs? Isn't listed on the Kifaru site and a Google search yields nothing, even on the forums.

I'm grabbing one after trading away my Cimarron for a little bit more wiggle room.

I have the tut so i cant answer that. You've got to have the stakes and pole to put up the shelter anyways so its a null point really.

I can weigh my set up tonight. I did weigh it once and if I remember correctly I was a touch over 6lbs with the stove, shelter, pole and stakes.

You are welcome.  Patrick has been a long-time friend and I've slept in everything from the Para Tarp on up to the 24-man Tipi.  Hunted in Wyoming with him and a crew of other Kifaru guys in Wyoming this past Fall.  The one shelter I haven't used yet is the Tut, but I might try one instead of my Mega-Tarp this year.  Anyway, you can get by in high arid environments like Colorado or central Wyoming pretty easily without a liner, but for the humid "Pacific NorthWet"...liners are mandatory if you want a dry, warm place to call home in the backcountry.

You don't need the aluminum poles. Two trekking poles linked together would work just fine for 0 weight. Throw your partners on the back end, done. I use different stakes than the ones that Kifaru sends out, so I can just add those to the canopy weight for its real world weight

We have condensation build up but if you fire up the stove the condensation is gone in minutes

If you are packing up and moving daily, treking poles are the way to go.  If you are camping out for a while, spend 10 min and cut some branches and use them for poles.  Get one with some other knots on them so you can hang wet clothes or various items off of them.
