Thanks for all the knowledge you guys shared about trapping and lures and such. I used green feathers and some bobcat lure scent and a shiny spinner at the back of cage and with a little meat thrown in for good measure. I set it up perpendicular to a path that cut down around a fenceline. Looks like the cat liked to walk the fence line. It was so bold to be seen out in a field during the daytime, makes me think she's a young dumb but fairly well sized cat. Teeth are in perfect shape too.

Most of what you all said was echoed by cagingbobcats, another great resource!

You should of released her to breed. That was more than likely the only breeder left in that area.. Trappers that sell there fur have trapped ever last bobcat except that one.  I beleave a trapper like you would of let her go to breed and only take old sick toms.  :twocents:

Congratulations on your first cat klikboom

To all the rest of you I ask a question:

As we all know HW strongly discourages negativity on success topics, its this negativity that keeps people from posting pictures on this website to share.  I ask all of you how can you educate and promote trapping if no one shares their success with you?

He's a new trapper learning by public pressure that perhaps it's a good idea to release breeding females.  I learned that in trapping class, my instructor was very...adamant about not trapping on top of another trapper and keeping females.

Maybe this klikboom's instructor didn't drill that home or perhaps he didn't care or perhaps he was so stoked on catching a cat he was going to keep it no matter what.  Either way, it's not that big of a deal for the first couple times this guy catches a cat, once the excitement of catching *something* wears off perhaps he'll be able release females in the future.  Blasting this guy will keep others from sharing their success on here and that will deny the trapping community to educate and lead others in a positive way.   Negativity in success topics is prohibited forum wide.

I would like to say congrats on a great cat. I was just *censored* about a coment you made. Saying that trapper that sell furs are sell outs and eat up all the resorces in the area. So I gave you crap about the female you caught. Thats not right and I feel any trapper cat keep females if they want. It is up the the trapper not. Heck if it is a nice cat so be it. She is your trophy. Congrants again
