Youth turkey hunt assistance requested
« on: February 18, 2017, 10:56:33 AM »
My daughter is enrolled in a hunter education course which concludes next week. I'm contemplating taking her turkey hunting during the youth season April 1 and 2 for her first hunt. If would be nice if she got a turkey, but the experience is most important.

Can anyone suggest a guide or service we could use for this hunt? We live in Western Washington but can travel anywhere.

Thank you.

Bearpaw....100%.  Checkout the youth turkey contest to see the success rates of the youth hunters during that weekend.  Make sure she has put in for the contest as well.  Regardless, you should contact Dale at Bearpaw and see if he has room for the youth weekend.  You won't regret it.

The Turkey outlook is very positive.  I got a flock of 50 in my backyard, never had that many before.

Bob33 I'd be more than happy to take you and your daughter and try and call one in for her.  However I'm on the east side, so it would be a trip for the two of you.

Thank you to everyone who offered advice and even hunting privileges. It just goes to show what a great resource Hunt WA is, and how generous so many members are.

I've tentatively made a decision to use a guide service, as this is my daughter' first hunt and I'm a novice turkey hunter. Having someone who knows how to call, find birds, and other aspects of turkey hunting will hopefully increase the odds of my daughter getting her first game animal and having a memorable hunt experience.

I will hopefully have some photos and a story to post in early April.

Thanks again!
