Hey yorke, you have any 215 bergers to send through your test?
If not and you want some let me know and I'll get some your way.
I've also got a box of 30 cal 180 interlock flat base on the bench I could send some over also (saw them mentioned above)
How about some eld x bullets?

I have experience with all the bullets I mentioned on game but might be cool to see the comparison to these others in the same media.

Did you consider saturating the leather?  Dry leather seems like it would produce more friction and distort the bullets more/differently than in a wet medium.

Great tests!  I love to see this type of testing.

Any bullets you can spare, I'll give them a go. I've never played with any of the ELD bullets so I'm kind curious to see how they do. I haven't played with any of the heavy 30 cal Bergers either, just up to the 185 VLD. I'll shoot you a PM with my address if you don't mind sending a couple.

I'm working on a way to do that. Since this is all treated leather, it's water repellent. It is a lot softer than a dry holster leather or something similar though. Next trip out I'm going to try tossing the leather in a big plastic bin filled with water instead of stacking it. So far though, bullets recovered from the leather match bullet's I've recovered from game at similar ranges. Yesterday I fired a 130gr Accubond from the Grendel into the leather at the same range that I shot my deer at last season. The bullets look almost identical; I'll snap a picture of them side by side. Same with the 275gr bullet from the 480 Ruger. The penetration in the leather is a fraction of what it is in animal tissue though.

I've been thinking of going by Stewart's meats and seeing if I can get some bones from them to throw in there.

It would be the ethical thing to do.......

And maybe a still beating heart to see what it really takes to make it stop...

Love the performance of the 200 grain Accubonds. That's my go to bullet for elk.

Any chance you have a recovered bullet? I'd love to compare what I've got to whatever you guys have actually recovered from game animals.

I definitely have pictures. Not sure if I have an actual bullet.

This 200 grain Accubond went through both front shoulders of a bull elk and was recovered just under the hide on the far side. Range was roughly 50 yards.

I've recovered several others over the years. They've all pretty much looked like this.

Fun stuff york!  Thanks for sharing it all.  I'm with BullBlaster, I'd love to see those 215's!  I currently running the 212 eldx in my 300wsm.  My youth hunter took a big cow with it a few weekends ago on a damage control tag.  I've got a whole pile of them if you need some more bullets to play with.
It is foolish and wrong to mourn these men.  Rather, we should thank god that such men lived.  -General George S. Patton
