Agreed about the Hornaday's, I'm actually surprised the SST's performed so well.

Haha York. I must say I'm actually impressed the 165gr held up. I'd say that's much faster then I can push them out of my .308. and the 85gr was also impressive.

I'm pretty impressed with those 85's as well. To open so well and retain that weight is awesome.   I'd love to see the 87gr vmax tested

Great stuff!

Any chance you could repost that 123 Amax pic? The link doesn't work.

I'm interested in more testing on the 35's, particularly the 225 Partition. I really like them in the Whelen, but have never recovered one, always had them exit. Sweet looking rifle in your pic.

I think I got the A-Max picture fixed. Photobucket just isn't cooperating this time! All the pics in my post over on LRH are rotated 90* no matter what I do. I have a theory though, maybe Photobucket is actually owned by Berger Bullets and they're mad that I've been a little down on the Bergers through this whole test. It's just a plot by the big wigs at Berger to silence the little man!!!!! :tinfoil:

I talked to berger today, they said the elite hunters are designed for down to 1800 fps to penetrate 3 inches then blowup essentially.  Supposedly they do in game or gelatin but I doubt that unless they hit bone.  Wierd the the heavier otm seem to mushroom better.

So far I think the 277gr MTAC would be my low velocity bullets of choice for that, when that thing started tumbling it would take out anything in the way! :chuckle:

I'm going to try a slightly different test for some of the Bergers. I'm getting a lot of feedback saying that they need more hydraulic pressure to open up consistently. I have to say that it's only been the hybrids that I've really had trouble with. The standard VLDs have done pretty well.

I'm guessing that Bergers do need some meplat drilling / tuning to be effective though at the cost of some loss of coefficent as a number of web hunters reportedly are doing.  Be interesting to see what difference that makes.

Keep it coming Yorke !

The thick jacket and open front of the Berger probably benefits from real hydraulic pressure. I'm no expert but it sure makes sense to me.

Thanks so much Yorke for keeping this updated

I thought about doing that, but I decided that having to edit the videos would cut into my shooting/reloading time. If I can figure out how to make money doing this, I'll quit my job and make all the you want. :chuckle:

I agree for the same reasons, the heavier jacket on the Hybrids is designed to help them hold together and it seems to work.
