Doesn't have anything to do with the snow as how long they stay prime .The hours of light dictate when they start to break down also the light dictates when the go prime.

Does the same apply to bobcats?

Yep

I guess the late season ones are only good for a conversation piece then.  Thanks for the info.

Oh man, I have to disagree. Cats should be good through the end of the season, March 31.
