Backcountry Bowhunter Looking for Partner/s
« on: February 21, 2017, 06:52:48 PM »
Seattle based bowhunter (28 yo) looking for partner/s for in/out of state hunting during the 2017+ season.  This will be my 3rd season, gained solo success last year in WA (elk) and WY (antelope).

For 2017 I would like to do an early hunt elk/deer hunt in ID or MT.  For 2017 in WA I currently am thinking of targeting wet side elk, bear, and deer.  Also picking up traditional, but will most likely hunt with a compound.

You:  Backcountry focused, high ethics, in shape.

Welcome to further discussing experience, goals, and ideas via PM.

Congrats on getting your first elk.  I also got my first antelope in WY this year, that hunt is a blast!

Casper area.  As far as having 0 points, not many options for you.  With no points your probably better off paying a trespass fee unless you just want some does.  Does are a different story and you should be able to draw those or get OTC tags.

Yeah, I know with 0 points I know I'm kind of in a hard spot, but I called Wyoming fish and game and talked to an antelope biologist and he game me some good info. Very little public land in the north (only areas a guy can draw with 0 points)

As far as the hunting in WA, I live up in marysville. Looking to hunt the west side for elk and deer. Interested a high hunt as well. Would love to get out and do some scouting

You can look at the leftover tags for WY once they come out.  Then they will go on sale as a first come first serve basis.  You may be able to get a tag that way.  As far as WA goes, i only know about the archery seasons but west side elk holds some good opportunities.  You don't need a timber company pass to find elk, there are plenty of other areas but you may need to do some research

Looking to hunt early archery in Utah. Leaving on or about Aug 21. I have to be back Labor Day. Plan B is central Idaho.

38. 6' 180lbs. Run 12 miles per day. One long run per week 20+ miles. Like to backcountry hunt wilderness areas. Last two pack in hunts were 12 miles in at 12500 feet northeast of Silverthorne, CO.

Maximus - I'm a backcountry bow hunter from Seattle as well. 2017 is going to be tough with work and prior engagements. Happy to help scout over weekends etc in some of the early Muley Units. I'm new here and have only met duck hunters so far. Could use some big game contacts like you
