Market flooded with AR's
« on: February 21, 2017, 09:00:00 PM »
With so many company's making mil-spec uppers and lowers how long till we see a production AR-15 roll off the line for below $400.  They seem to be doing nothing but going down in price and everywhere you turn there is one for sale.  There are a few "brand names" holding value but how can you really justify dropping a couple grand on a noveske or similar firearm when you can buy a mil-spec gun for under $600 all day long.  Own quite a few AR platform firearms and they seem to be the only guns I actually worry I might not be able to sell for what I paid for them or more.

I was thinking about that recently.  Without the panic for ARs, what will the market trend toward?  I figure some will try to upgrade their AR-- look for the higher end mfg and closet the other for the next scare.

You have at least 4 years, hopefully 8 before the prices go nuts again.

Buy low sell high!
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

I agree the only problem is that the lack lusters sales stifle development, is the stuff isn't selling, no reason to spend a bunch of time on R&D.

Not much need for R&D on a 60 year old design anymore.  I should probably just invest in defense distributed or some machining skills.

I've been hoping to see some real good deals in the used department.  Even on the classifieds here, guys are keeping the prices higher but hey'll come down eventually.

I anticipate that there will be several AR manufacturers that will go out of business over the next several years.  Supply and demand.

3D printing is replacing a lot of machining need.  I still prefer machining where parts see stresses though.
